February 1st - Freedom Day

On January 31, 1865, the US House of Representatives passed their portion of a joint-resolution that would eventually become the 13th Amendment to the Constitution – abolishing slavery in the United States. The following morning, on February 1st, the Resolution was placed on President Abraham Lincoln’s desk – on which we signed his name and wrote “Approved” marking it the only Amendment with a Presidential signature (though his signature was not necessary in the Amendment process).

In 1948, both Houses of Congress passed a bill designating February 1st as ‘National Freedom Day’, and signed by President Truman to honor and celebration of the events in 1865. Here at Lincoln Treasury we are proud to offer a special limited edition Freedom Day Silver Bar, made of a Full Half-Ounce of .999 Fine Silver. The graceful Lady Liberty on the front of the bar, and Philadelphia’s iconic Liberty Bell on the reverse, this unique Fine Silver bar is a must for any avid history buff.
